Comments
Comments: We got on trail around 9:15. Spikes on road and up to the beginning of the climb except for the area where the trail switchbacks to the left away from the water. We put on snowshoes there to break the trail, but it was a disaster. Just follow the monorail, which follows the water, instead of the actual trail. Once we put on snowshoes right before the climb, we kept them on until back at the car. The trail softened up considerably as the day went on, especially the hardwood portion of trail, which has been obliterated by spikers. Of the eleven of us on trail, only four of us had snowshoes. The monorail was so soft at the end of the day that it ended up collapsing in many areas. If you don’t need Carrigain right now, I’d wait for lower water and better trail conditions.
