| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Haven’t been here in awhile. Didn’t realize they paved the lot! |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Ice - Blue, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Monorail (Stable), Snow/Ice - Monorail (Unstable), Snow - Spring Snow, Slush |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
HEADS UP: the Forest service is rerouting the beginning of the trail around the first water crossing but the first sign is easy to miss! Follow Crawford Valley Way and you’ll see the second sign. This eliminates the first crossing completely.
The other two crossings, which are usually bone dry most of the year, were running pretty high. If your boots aren’t waterproof your feet might get a tad wet. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw two other dogs today. One apparently lives nearby (though we’ve never seen it before) and wanders all over the mountain by itself. |
|
| Bugs: |
Despite being just about freezing, when I set my bag down on the peak, it got covered in small bugs! WTF… |

| Comments: |
Conditions were much better than last weekend. The monorail (where it existed) was mostly stable though, lower down, it became less stable as the day went on. Lots of bare rock so wear your beater spikes. See the note above about the rerouting of the trail.
Cloud ceiling was low with the impending storm so views were limited, but not too many folks on the trail today so we didn’t share the peak with many others. Pics will be forthcoming on Instagram @quantum.moxie |
