| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Starr King Rd was plowed, parking lot was not - only a couple inches of new snow, my RAV4 made it in fine. As previously noted, there are deep ruts across the entrance to the TH that lower vehicles need to be aware of. I seem to hit it right about 50% of the time, but even my higher clearance vehicle scrapes when I'm not careful. So glad the summer lot is accessible this year! |

Beautiful dusk hike to grab Waumbek on a windy snowy evening! Trail had been broken out during the day, but there were sections re-drifted and snow was falling as I was out there. Lowest mile is snow on top of iced mud.. I started in spikes but ditched them at the well, barebooted to the one mile birch. Running snowshoes went on there, and I wore them for the duration. Soft and lovely trail perfect for snowshoes at this time. |
