Comments: What a glorious day on Hale today (how often do you hear that?!)

Barebooted Little River Rd, over the bridge to the start of the bushwhack. It looked like there was enough snow to warrant snowshoes, so on they went (for the duration of the hike until the same spot upon return).

Broke trail the entire way up. A few inches on bushwhack and FR304, which was completely untouched this morning. About the same amount of snow on N Twin Trail and lower sections of Fire Wardens. Snow depth increased to about 8” above 3000’. Maybe 12” in some spots, if you measured diagonally.

Some pretty decent drifts above 3600’ on the summit push, but nothing crazy. Summit was completely untouched, sheltered from the wind, and man did that sun feel good.

Snow still really unconsolidated on the way down until lower elevation/areas in the sun. At that point, snow would best be described by Snoop as “sticky icky icky, oooooooh wee!”

3 sets of snowshoes have the track completely broken. If you’re heading out tomorrow or Thursday, snowshoes are your best (only?) choice.

No tracks on N Twin past FWT junction.
No tracks up to summit from either Hale Brook or LAH.
No cars at either Gale River Loop Rd parking areas or at Beaver Brook.
One car at Skook in the afternoon (no idea if they went on the trail or on the bike path).
Four cars at FW/OBP in the afternoon.
