Date of Hike: Monday, March 11, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Large paved parking area with room for dozens of cars. Maybe a half dozen or so when I arrived and left around 5:15 an 6:15pm.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None technically but the trail was flooded in one section on Tote Rdas it nears the pond for the first time coming from the east. You could easily avoid this by walking along the path in the field instead (if you weren't redlining of course ;P)
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I'm not sure Tuck Trail had a sign despite the guidebook saying it does. It definitely did not where it meets Lincoln Trail but I don't think there was one at the base of the hill either though I could be wrong. Kitty Rock Trail was not signed from the summit or from where it left the summit clearing to enter the woods I believe but was signed shortly afterward and in the reverse direction would be more clear. I believe Tote Rd was signed on both ends (definitely if you're coming in from the gate, opposite direction of what the guidebook describes). I never saw a sign for Perimeter Trail. I don't think any of these trails were marked or blazed except for Perimeter Trail which is blazed in somewhat of a faded yellow. Other than some trivial stepovers, I don't think I recall any blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure. Saw a few out. Some were leashed, some were not I think.
Bugs
Bugs: None
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Second little post-work SNH redline. I followed the route described in the guidebook, except I did an OAB on the section of Perimeter Trail that parallels Kitty Rock Trail as I was unsure which was which, and did a short OAB on the section of Lincoln Trail that connects it to Tuck's Trail as it is described in the guidebook so probably needed. Long story short, stick on the widest and UNblazed trail. Perimeter Trail is blazed in yellow and diverges from Kitty Rock Trail in an obscure spot and is travels VERY close to it; it felt kind of silly if you ask me. Note my note above regarding a small portion of Tote Rd being flooded. Beyond that, trails were not particularly prone to mud given the recent rains. I climbed the summit tower and enjoyed the views for a bit (very windy!) before heading down. Gaia had me at 1.8mi, 150ft of gain, 40min.
