Trails: Carriage Road, White Trail, Piper-Round Pond Link, Boulder Trail, East Gilford Trail, Blue Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Wednesday, March 13, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: No issues at the bottom of Carriage Rd.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few crossings, no issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Some blowdowns, including a big one on the blue trail near the water crossing and one on Piper-Round link near where the trail peels off to Piper. The sign at the intersection of East Gilford and White Trails was down again but I decided not to put it back up because it was laying on the rock pile and oriented in a way that correctly indicated the trail directions.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Mine had fun. Lots of water available. Note that Boulder Trail can be tricky with a dog, but mine had no issues. The E Gilford ledges are a good spot to get some views with your dog if you don't want to head up the tower.
Bugs
Bugs: There were a few out. No bites.
Lost and Found

Comments
Comments: A little Belknap loop to finish up some trails with the pup. Great to be out.

I only wore spikes on the descent down Belknap on the Blue Trail, but there are still some snow/ice spots throughout the hike that may firm up and make them necessary for longer stretches.
