| Comments: |
Minimal snow at low elevation so started with bare boots. Somewhere between 2000-3000 foot altitude snow became deeper and softer and snowshoes went on. There were a single set of old boot tracks that continued, with considerable post holing up to about half a mile short of the summit that I tried to smooth out as I climbed. Above tree line there was minimal snow and switched back to bare boots for the last pitch to the summit. I didn’t see any tracks coming up Carriage Road when I reached the junction. The spur to South Peak had seen no apparent recent use, but the view back toward the summit made the short side trip well worthwhile in my opinion. While I never saw another person on trail there was a second set of snowshoe tracks as I headed down Glencliff (I must have been on South Peak when he/she came up), so route is now well broken out after last storm. |
