Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There is a 24”+ diameter blowdown running on (not across) the trail, for approximately 20’, approximately 300 yards below the water crossing (lower cascade). It most likely fell between Sunday and Tuesday morning as the snowshoe and bareboot tracks are entirely consistent both before and after it. On the way up I painstakingly tromped around it but that was difficult due to muddy and running water under the snow. On the way back I roughly delimbed the top of the blowdown and was able to walk down the middle of it without any balance issues (it’s that wide). If someone does a better job of delimbing it (ie with a saw) it will likely be fairly easy to continue to walk over the top of it.

Comments
Comments: I wasn’t feeling list-y so instead of hiking the Osceolas for March, I headed out Cascade Path. I avoided the initial part of the trail and walked on the road as much as I could. After the Saturday night snow event one snowshoer and at least two bare booters were out to the cascades. The snow cover is thin and it was cold enough, in the morning, that it was styrofoam-like. I went back and forth between snowshoes and light traction; neither one was great (yay for spring conditions). It’s worth the tedious footing for such a pretty view.
