| Comments: |
Fun day guiding a few guests up the winter route for Redline. Tuckerman nicely tracked out for bare booting as always. Crampons and mountaineering axes for LH. Everything was in great shape for footing, some bare rock @ the Wilcox Step where the sun hits as expected. Upper portion of LH had 2-3 feet of snow. Southeast snowfield was still firm in the afternoon. From split rock to the summit is minimal snow, ice, bare rock as expected. One of these days I’m gonna do this route and not see someone in over their head needing help. Alas, today was not that day. Please make sure you have the proper traction, and that said gear actually fits your boots prior to getting yourself into a spicy situation. I’m always surprised more people don’t get hurt. Have fun, but be safe. |
