The Liberty Springs trail starts off with a mix of slush, mud, and wet leaves. We started with spikes. Shortly before the tent site, we put on snowshoes. The snow is soft and it was taking more effort in spikes. Snowballs were forming under our Hillsounds. Heading over to Flume, the snow was deep. It was broken out but more snowshoe traffic will help this trail. Don’t leave your snowshoes in the car! This trail has the deepest snowshoe trench I have seen all winter. It was a gorgeous day, absolutely no wind on Liberty and a slight breeze on Flume. The soft, unconsolidated snow made it a challenging hike, but weather conditions were perfect. A beautiful day with my hiking buddy, Audrey. |
