Today was a frustrating kind of day. If it was a colder out the night before the trail would have been amazing. But it wasn’t. It was raining and warmer out. I was hoping the rain would slow down but it didn’t so on went the rain jacket and rain skirt because my pants were starting to get wet. About .2 miles in I put the snowshoes on because the slip action was every footstep. The two in front of me I could tell barebooted. It rained about the first hour then switched to snow, and then sleet, then heavy snow. Once up higher the wet snow started to ball under my feet which was annoying and could see the barebooters had some of that issue too. Got to the summit for a quick minute and then back to the cabin changed out my sopping wet shirt and gloves and went down. Wow was that a mess! I did my best to clean it up but fell a few times due to the post holes. Sun came out at the bottom and saw my bald eagle on the drive out :). |
