Comments
Comments: A few inches of light, fluffy snow from last night made for easy barebooting until about five miles in (on Lincoln Brook Trail after taking Black Pond bushwhack). We donned snowshoes and kept them on the rest of the hike (we took Brutus both ways) until we reached Black Pond bushwhack on the return (could have removed them earlier). There was plenty of new snow up on the ridge and the other seven hikers all had snowshoes so the trough up high is in great shape. On the way out, much of the new snow in Lincoln Woods had melted, so things were definitely muddier and a bit icier, too. Bareboots were fine, but spikes might be needed in the next few days.

Nice to run into Captain Chris finishing his SSW48 and HikerDad, and to meet Jake who finished up his Winter 115.
