Parked on Trescott Road and walked west to Rte. 120 in Hanover. Took the Velvet Rocks Shelter Loop on the way out. Then walked back (east) to my car using Velvet Rocks Trail the whole way.
These trails have very limited views, but plenty of interesting features. The moss-covered rock formations (velvet rocks) are wonderful. The route also includes a secluded, reedy swamp and a shelter used by AT through hikers.
I saw only one other hiker all day. It was a beautiful, very quiet ramble. |
