SNOWSHOES!!!!! PLEASE!!!! After 18-20 inches of snowfall the night before, who in their right mind thinks this is spike conditions?
Firstly a big thank you for whomever broke trail so that by 12:30 pm we trod a nicely tramped-down though narrow path.
Out of about 10 parties we passed, 7 wore snowshoes, which I supposed is pretty good. But the others - wow. I try to let everyone HYOH (hike your own hike) and practice being non-judgmental, or thinking maybe they didn't know better. But after following two of them and their divoted mess, I had to say something to party #3.
Made sure to tramp over the very unconsolidated side from the ledges to where Flume, Liberty and Franconia Ridge still peek out just a little from above the trees. - Fun doing glissades down from the top were as if on skis. I won the family butt kiss competition though everyone participated. Still a lovely day enjoying "winter" this spring. |
