Comments
Comments: Fantastic day for this hike, blue skies, great views, no wind except for a tolerable breeze on the peak. Snowshoes a def. I wore them car to car except for the road walk of course. The trail to Mt Surprise was a hard packed snowshoe track in the morning cold temps and a little mushy on the way out in the afternoon. After Mt Surprise, the trail was not broken out. Oh, the trudgery. A solo hiker punched through leading the way to Moriah. I followed punching through what he couldn't establishing a trough. Our out and back left a trough of loose powder. Two other snowshoers were heading up as I was descending so hopefully that will help tighten it up some. I came across a gaggle of home schoolers who were out on their adventure day and built a museum in the snow on the ledge beyond Mt Suprise. I hope your next adventure day is a good one. Happy hiking!
