| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Parking lot on Mt. Clinton Road was not plowed. A few cars had parked at the entrance ( which will prevent plowing today), but I parked on the main road across from the "old" trailhead and walked directly onto Crawford Path. Many others also had done this. |

I snuck in a morning hike up Pierce before the rain showers come. Trail is packed out, but snow is soft and in places, sticky, making for annoying travel. Snow shoe crampons kept balling up. It bothered more on the uphill than on descent, and snow was firmer in some places.
Very large drifts near the trail junction, and a mix of snow, slush, ice and bare rock up top. Socked in and very windy, but navigation was ok.
A plea to fellow hikers, with all the new snow and mild temps, please, please wear snowshoes. Otherwise, the trail will be a mess. Yes they are slightly harder to walk in, but better than dodging frozen potholes. Most people did today. A few barebooters. |
