Comments
Comments: MANY thanks to Chase H and Danielle for their reports and what must have been grueling trailbreaking! You guys rock! Once I tackled the snowbank like a drowning waterbug and saw that beautiful snowshoe trench my heart smiled. The trench was great all the way to the top of the steeps at ridge. Some of the snow was still unconsolidated requiring some extra effort to kick step for traction on some of the steeper sections. The slide crossing was in good shape and and allowed for some great views just before the clouds rolled in. There was significant drifting up there that obliterated the majority of the track. I gave myself a pep talk and went at it. Let's just say I am glad I was solo so there were no witnesses to my lack of grace when I had to repeatedly extricate myself from thigh deep drifts. No signs of life venturing beyond the summit toward main peak. It had warmed up and started to drizzle on my way down which made for some intermittent involuntary butt sliding and typical spring snow mush that chopped up the base of the trench a bit on the way out.

Snowshoes roundtrip today for sure! Echoing my usual hiking partner in crime, Hikes with Maddie...anything less than snowshoes would be irresponsible, inconsiderate and potentially very dangerous, so just use them and leave the trail better than you found it. I will add that with the upcoming forecast of rain followed by colder temps one might consider traction (crampons) for safety on the descent. Please don't leave your common sense in the care and be safe out there!
