Only one stream to step over right off the highway. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Only 2 or 3 duck-unders that are about 3 inches thick, not a big deal for a small handsaw. I think the sign is missing near the highway, I didn’t see one and it took me a while walking up and down the ramp to find the trail. |

I hadn’t been on this trail in 10 years and hadn’t seen any recent reports, so I thought I’d go explore it. The trail is in good shape, and still totally covered in snow right now below treeline. Lots of short switchbacks on this trail make for an easy hike in snowshoes. Above treeline was a mix of hard ice and mostly bare rock, I wore rock spikes after the hut, but wasn’t getting any traction on the ice, luckily I could avoid most of it, which can be tricky with the strong wind gusts knocking you around. |
