My wife and I hiked Mount Shaw with our two cattle dogs. Cold Spring Road had very little snow and we put our microspikes on once we hit Cold Spring Trail. We used them for the remainder of the hike until back at the road. The hike up was very moderate with only a couple steep sections. The snow started out crusty due to yesterday's rain but by mid-morning, it was classic mashed potatoes. We followed a packed down snowshoe trail going up which stopped around 2600ft. I wonder why they turned around. We then had to make our own trail until we hit the snowmobile section. Met three riders on the summit which had a great view! Easy trek back down. |
