Comments
Comments: Spikes on Lonesome Lake Trail, Fishin' Jimmy, and Kinsman Ridge to South and North Kinsman and back to the shelter. The trailbed was frozen and mostly consolidated since the temps were below freezing until early afternoon.
There hasn't been any traffic on the Mt. Kinsman Trail since the snow.
Snowshoes went on for KRT across the Cannonballs. Although nobody had traversed this section of the trail since the snow, it was firm and supportive. I rarely sank more then an inch into the frozen snow. The KRT up to Cannon was well tracked and firm with a large ice flow on the steep section. Snowshoes stayed on down Hi-Cannon. From the cutoff to the KRT, expect large frozen snowshoe prints. No major issues with these, just tedious going. From the cut-off down, the snow was softening and not very supportive even with snowshoes.
