Comments
Comments: trail was surprisingly good in my opinion. A bit choppy but frozen and firm - we barebooted up to the summit of Liberty no problem.
Two separate people said they skipped Flume because the trail was an ankle breaker, but we decided to check it out. Put our microspikes on at the top of Liberty and headed toward Flume. It was definitely choppier than Liberty Springs trail but totally doable - still frozen and firm. We had snowshoes but it was too choppy and frozen to consider using them and we never broke through. Spikes stayed on back to Liberty and down until maybe 1/2 mile from the junction, then back to bare boots. beautiful day!
