Comments
Comments: Got a late start (2:00) so things were softening up on Ammo. Used spikes up to the Gem Pool, then put on snowshoes for the televators. People were in both spikes and trail crampons, all were doable. Bare rock started to appear south of the hut. There was a false path off to the right before that, so stay left unless you want a detour to nowhere. Monroe was a mixture of ice and bare rock - I had switched to trail crampons at the hut and was glad on the icy bits but cringing over the bony ones. Sigh. Kept the trail crampons on to Washington. One traverse (where the cairns disappear, shortly after the hut) was the only tricky part. Pretty icy. Cog was soft snow until Waumbek, when it started mixing w/ bare spots. Bare booted from there. This report will be moot tomorrow, but welcome to spring!
