Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lamms Trail (a road) was not plowed and goes alongsides someones field. I went about 100yds up before I felt appropriate to quit while I was ahead, and turned around. We went to park at the Transfer Station, apx 1/4 mile North. I had gone into the office to ask permission to park there - We had the craziest luck because the first person I asked was the homeowner at the end of Lamms Trail, and allowed us to park in his driveway for the day! (NOTE: Owner expressed he is blocking the road Monday for Eclipse)

Comments: A FINE day in the North Country. Was super lucky to get zporterColdRiverCampCook to come along with me on this one. We set off down Lamms Trail and made short work. I had mapped a few logging roads using slope angle shading and this was clutch for the day, as it made our day far more efficient. We utilized these logging roads to great success, easily covering the 2 mile approach. Snow was really nice and packable down low and powdery up high. Trees are still heavily snow laden - so there is much snow grenades awaiting you. We launched from the hard 90 degree turn past the log yard that some utilize (we came in below this). We found great wood aside from one minor scrappy patch to the col of Savage and Spruce - East. Savage truly lived up to its name for about half of the trek - the other spots it was Basket of Puppies Mountain. Bobbin' and weavin' like an agility dog through decent woods. The trek off Savage was much easier with our track. After that, the day became far more tame. Spruce - South had a recognized summit, but the jar was missing (or fallen). Zachary hung a new jar and register, if you find it when the snow melts, just combine log books and pack out old jar. We opted to avoid the bump in between whats recognized as South Spruce, but it does not have a register. From here we continued towards the col with the next bump to the south west, of which I dubbed South South Spruce (I was going to call it Juno but I figured someone might not like that :P) We topped out on the unrecognized summit, then back to the col. Interesting area for sure and really pretty. Again, utilizing slope angle shading, we where able to find the top end of an old skid road and follow it the entire way back to Lamms Trail (or whatever it's called past the houses/gate). Must have spooked a moose, as there was very fresh tracks. Uneventful rest of the day, aside from noticeable compaction/melting down low. Another NH100 down!
