Comments
Comments: 7 of us broke trail from the parking lot straight on up. As the morning temps warmed, bare-booters beat it up from the lot to the falls detour sign (and turned around...). We cleaned it up a bit on the way back out, but the temps were nearing 40 and starting to rain in the late afternoon so that first mile of trail needs a freeze... Everything above waterfall detour should be fine. The sign at the Falls Cutoff Trail was buried, but the Middle Sister, Piper, and West Side trail signs were visible. 6-8' drift along west side of the cone, to the point that the Libery/Piper trail sign was almost buried and you can snowshoe right up to the summit, with a little switchback action. Of course a lot of bare rock to get across, but wasn't worth switching to spikes with all the drifts above the trees.
