Trail was overall in good condition given that we just had a snowstorm in April! My kids and I started up the trail at 9am and it looked as though 2-3 people had broken trail with snowshoes the day before. I used snowshoes for the trek the the exception of switching to spikes while on the rocky ridge. A few groups of 2 passed us, the first two in snowshoes and the last pair barebooting and post holing. My kids wore spikes. The trail is broken out but not consolidated was getting slippery and mushy at the end of the day. Up on the ridge it’s bare wet rock so ideally you’ll want both spikes and snowshoes. My tomorrow some snow at the lower elevation will have melted. |
