| Comments: |
Snowshoes are an absolute must! 12-18+ inches of snow with much higher drifts throughout the entire hike, with snowshoes we were still sinking in 8-12 inches each step. Two of us broke out from Mt Anna over to West Quarry, then headed down to Reed Rd. We did our best, but it definitely needs more snowshoes to pack it down. The normal steep spots on Rand Mt. and the ledges by-pass up to West Quarry weren't too horrible because of the amount of snow, just take your time and step carefully. Three sets of bear tracks between Mt Klem and Reed Rd, but no bears sightings today. Overall, a beautiful snowy hike! |
