| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Spotted car at the ski area parking; lots of room today since they are closed for season. Took one car from Ski parking area to the unpaved extension of Dorchester Rd. Road was mostly dry with a lot of ruts and frost heaves. Drove down the Headwaters trail to the start of a snomo trail. Only car in the AM, but a truck had joined us by the afternoon. |

Cooper had a great time, even though we were bushwhacking; don't usually bring him on BW but forest was reported to be open. No steep grades, or ledges to climb. The conditions today were good for a pup; open woods / minimal hobble bush and low brush in the face. |

| Comments: |
Initial plan was to do a traverse of these peaks, starting with SH and finish by hiking down the ski trails. However, once at WL, it seemed to make more sense to head back to the car and avoid driving back with a second car.
Started up road / snomo trail, passing the Xmas tree farm. Continued for a bit longer on this road, until it seemed to heading in the wrong direction, before jumping into the woods. Off and on woods roads, and bushwhacked to the summit and easy to find register, views into VT through the trees. From there proceeded NW along the ridge.
Opted to also summit the minor peak to the NW Sugar Hill, instead of going around. Great views to the east from the summit. No register here. Continued NW into COL and on to Winslow. Beautiful soft wood forest around the summit. Views to the west from the ledges to the SE of the summit. descended mostly east then SE, finding / following woods roads and snomo trails most of way back to car.
Lots of evidence of bear activity. |
