Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: One significant crossing 1 mile in. Not a problem if you don't mind stepping into a few inches of water. Tried out some heavy duty cat litter bags which worked great.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail from the cabin to the summit can be hard to follow going up. Could use a few more blazes. People have tried a couple different ways to reach the summit. No problem coming down if you look for the yellow blazes. One duck under on Bunnell.

Comments
Comments: A tale of two trails. The Bunnell Notch trail has dozens of small brooks easily stepped over. Increasing amount of bare ground which snowshoes don't particularly like. The best foot traction to use depends on the time of day. I started at 7a and barebooted for a ways then put on snowshoes that stayed on the rest of the day. Coming back on Bunnell the snow was soft, sticky at times, and slippery in a few places. Ran into two people descending the Kilkenny Ridge Trail that used spikes the entire trip. Monorail is definitely beginning to take shape. Snow bridges are mostly gone and those remaining were suspect. Warm, little wind, and lots of running water on Bunnell. Kilkenny was windy, cold, and no running water. It almost felt like a winter hike. Much of the Kilkenny Ridge trail is still covered in a several feet of snow. Snowshoes with televators worked well on this trail up and back.
