| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Lime Kiln Rd is a dirt road and is down to dirt (no snow/ice) It's a little rutted and bumpy but was *not* muddy, and for this time of year it's in decent/good condition as far as dirt roads go. Parking lot is small but also dry. One other car at midday |

Barebooted the entire hike, what a wonderful spring treat. Brought the rock spikes but never needed them. Trail is free of snow, ice, and with barely any mud. The trails are pretty dry and only hardly muddy around the very beginning. There's some wetness on the trail and rocks in the woods as you get higher up (slabs/ledges are dry) but it was very little issue walking on it, and plenty of space to step off if it felt like an issue (like on the way down). There's maybe a 4 foot stretch of ice in the woods right before you break out to the summit but this was the only ice/snow I saw all day. My first time up this mountain and that view was really something else. Only saw one pair out there today. On the way back down I made the very short walk over to the lime kilns, really fascinating and worth the check out! What a spectacular day, and a great feeling to have rock under my boots again. |
