None seen today, but paw prints were in abundance. |

They didn't dare. |

| Lost and Found: |
I lost my grumpy mood. During the sleet and rain portion of the program, I sang all the songs I could think of about sunshine, and I was feeling pretty good after a while. |

Snow appeared about 2,600'. I kept on barebooting until the junction just below the Garfield summit since my outsoles had deep lugs. Spikes would have been all I needed, though. We went early enough that the snow was firm. Stay on the packed trail, and no trouble. Step off to the side, and posthole. Snowshoes got a free ride. The trail stayed snow above 2,600' for the most part, but where there was running water on the trail, the snow would disappear for a little bit. Not long enough to bother taking the spikes off, but enough to make me feel bad about what I was doing to my spikes. I only postholed a few times, and only once as high as my shin. The rest were really minor. Those were all on the way down when it was getting a little warmer (and raining). If you go early when it's cold, you can knock Garfield off your April list with minimal fuss. Go get it! |
