| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
At the trailhead at the end of Marsh Hill Rd. in New Durham. The last 0.2 mi. of this road is rougher but fine for any vehicle with care. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The trail has yet to be blazed/signed and the trailhead kiosk is still in-progress, but that work is forthcoming. I cleared some smaller blowdowns that could be moved easily by hand. Two larger ones remain but they don't impede travel. |

Now that Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire (SELT) has acquired Mt. Bet, the future Mt. Bet Trail will follow an existing snowmobile route up and over the mountain and down to Chesley Rd., with a spur path diverging to the south ledges near the summit. The true summit, about 0.1 mi. NW of the ledges, is wooded and has no trail.
This route was mainly dry with some muddy areas on the north side of the mountain. The upper ledges were dry.
From the ledges I did the very short and easy bushwhack to the true summit, which is marked by a sign, cairn, and one of Hiker Ed's mini-canisters (none of these look like they are at the highest point though, which appears to be a ledge a few yards away). The register inside was intact and in a plastic bag, but had still gotten wet. |
