Comments
Comments: I didn't bother to check the stream crossing based on the large amount of trail flooding near the Potash Mountain Trailhead--didn't want the wet feet--so I re-parked on the hwy shoulder and took the logging road to bypass the crossing and then connected with the Potash Mountain Trail to the summit. Some mashed potato snow at the start of the logging road. I put on snowshoes to try and deal with it, but quickly ended up taking them off when the snow got patchy. The start of the Potash Trail was free of snow, but part way up, there was unstable monorail for most of the trek to the summit. It was slow going to make sure I stayed on the monorail and not post-hole through. Saw some bear tracks, but no actual bears on my way up. Thankfully the steep rock faces were free from snow, although there was a bit of patchy snow around the summit. Overcast day, but still had views out into the Sandwich Wilderness. The descent was a bit easier since I could follow my footsteps, but snow and ice was getting increasingly unstable as the afternoon progressed.
