| Water Crossing Notes: |
The first one, about one minute into the hike was easy. Champney Brook had three crossings. Rock hoppable, but I did have to submerge my feet on a couple rocks here and there. No big deal, wore winter boots and they kept me dry for the most part. Depending on snowmelt and rain in the the next couple weeks, your results may differ. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Great signs, one blow down. Thanks! |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Saw a well-behaved dog enjoying the day. I think most dogs would enjoy the brook. |
|
| Bugs: |
A few flying ones, not sure what they were. |
|
| Lost and Found: |
I saw a penny (unless it was at Sabbaday). Figured some little kid would enjoy finding it so I left it. |

If anyone has ever been to these two side by side falls and found them underwhelming, get up there IMMEDIATELY! New England waterfalls even suggests May/June as the time to go. The spring volume was a whole new experience. Get there before the snow of the upper regions is completely gone. I did enjoy the delicate summer version, but most people prefer a roaring water show; go now if that's you.
Speaking of snow, there are bits of monorail, and there is quite a bit of snow as you ascend the falls. We didn't need our spikes to deal with any of it, but please bring yours. A drop in temperature can always make things icy. Chocorua was not our goal today; just enjoyed the falls and came back down. Nice spring hike. |
