Well no surprise the rains came earlier than expected. Only 7 damned fools out for this one today. Bring extra socks you’re going to need them! Wet, muddy, slippery unstable trails today! Yeah spring! Was hoping to get this in before the rains came but no. Fairly quick even with the sloppy conditions. Bare booted past Bunnell Rock. Monorail stable then bare ground. Put spikes on 3/10ths past Bunnell & back. Stable monorail mostly to cabin then a mixed bag to summit. Several post holes to top, snowshoes would have been no help. Narrow rotting monorail, choppy trail, step off trail shin deep post hole. Trail sign on ground at top. Lunch & dry clothes on at cabin, however short lived they were. Really poured on the way out. River levels rose considerably, & even expanded! Oh well can’t always have perfect weather. Big Day for food & warmth! |
