Decent amount of water on trail currently but this loop was bone dry last Memorial Day. Glad not to have a dog today ran straight into two porcupines on trail! |

None today. Started early. Expected some swarming as it warmed up but it never happened. Was awesome to do this loop without bugs last year end of May was horrific. |

Good amount of blowdowns, mostly small/medium, between Bear Mountain and Firescrew. Trail is well blazed through here. Skyland trail east of Orange is kind of a hot mess and could use a lot of tlc.
Cardigan Superloop! Counted 7 or 8 running water sources as compared to one last Memorial Day. Currently no need to carry a bunch (which I did). Bugs not out in force yet-made for extremely pleasant day. Nice cool breeze complimented the abundant warm sunshine. Only spotted a few Trillium going up Bear. Tons of Trout Lily just starting to pop around Oregon/Firescrew and from Brown to a Crane there are a ton out already. Must have seen well over 100 piles of moose poop today it was bonkers. Ran into two porcupines and less than ten humans. Bike ride back to truck was glorious. This hike is A+++. Only a few remnants of snow/ice off trail on Firescrew. |
