Comments
Comments: I was unable to summit today due to conditions. Most of the trail was clear and although there were areas of wet rock, there was sufficient traction for the vast majority of the trail. However, closer to the summit the snow begins. Microspikes are a must. Initially the snow is passable and only 1-2 feet thick and sturdy enough to support a hiker. However, continuing on there is an intersecting stream that has ice and snow over the surface. This was passable today, but it is likely going to be challenging to cross when it is in the process of melting. Further up the trail I postholed up to my hip. I did make the decision not to summit due to the trail conditions and turned around. It is probably do-able still, but I didn't feel safe being a solo hiker after significant post holing. I'm planning on waiting a couple of weeks before attempting again.
