Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Whiteface Mountain trailhead at the end of Belknap Mountain Road had maybe a half-dozen vehicles when we arrived - we got what was probably the last spot, though some could've parked on the shoulder of the road. By contrast, no one else was at the Ledges/Iron Mine trailhead in either the morning or afternoon.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only the tiny two-step crossing on the lower Whiteface Mountain Trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The blowdown on White Trail near where the forest changes between conifers and deciduous is still there. Don't remember any others. No major drainage issues except for the upper Whiteface Mountain Trail, and those huge puddles are easy to go around. Signs are all in place. A lesson was learned though - you can put up all the signs you want, but you can't force hikers to read them. ;)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw several. No issues.
Bugs
Bugs: A few, but not as bad as I thought it would be considering my hike last weekend. Still a good idea to bring bug spray and a head net just in case.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: Trails are all in pretty good condition - most were quite dry, and even the big muddy puddles on the upper Whiteface Mountain Trail (which I call the First Whiteface Lake, Second Whiteface Lake, etc.) were easy to get around with dry boots. The footways on Ledges-Iron Mine Trail and Vista Trail (below the open vista) were not always the most obvious but were still well marked. Saw some people out, but trails were not too busy. Excellent views today from the many viewpoints and open ledges on this route. No snow visible anywhere, even at the summit of Gunstock (I'm so used to seeing multiple feet of snow there when I summit!). Very enjoyable day.
