Trail was dry up to Parker and i was hopeful heading out towards Resolution and it was pretty dry for awhile. The snow really started after the obscure right turn uphill. and i began to run into short patches of snow. Then deeper short patches which gave way to long patches and finally one long unavoidable postholing stretch. It went on and on no more than1 1/2 to 2’ deep. I didn’t even get out of the col. Never got to the semi open ledges.
Given the time and rain coming in and seeing no one since Mt Parker i started thinking a twisted ankle out there could end badly. So back we went. This looks like a little used trail. Not much erosion. And moss galore all over the trail. I think the trail to Resolution from Davis Path is easier, less rugged. |
