Trails in fine shape. We removed two of the blowdowns on Elwell near Bear Mountain mentioned in Spence's May 7 post -- trail is now clear between the summit and the Welton Falls Trail. |

Not an issue -- it was raining, however, so that might have something to do with it. |

A quick out-and-back to Bear Mountain. Quiet trail with wildflowers in bloom everywhere. Saw a juvenile bear scampering away from us on Welton Falls Trail, not too far from the marked bear tree. Elwell Trail near Bear Mountain is lush and green with moss -- beautiful. |
