| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Man this trail needs some love. Sooooooo many branches and limbs on trail. The upper portions of Rocky Branch are literally a creek (and have been for years), but now they're a creek under a carwash. |

Rocky branch was pretty good until just about the Engine Hill bushwhack. Patchy, but mostly avoidable, snow for a bit. We avoided the disaster that was the Engine Hill bushwhack, but took a shorter one to cut the corner that was fairly easy to follow using my phone or a compass. Some disintegrating snowpack in here and a knee deep post hole or two. Longer stretches of unstable monorail once we were on Isolation tr. spent some time debating, but finally opted to try the Iso Express bushwhack with a mixed outcome. Wasn't hard to navigate with my old track, but mixed bag of conditions and some occasional deep post holes. Trail after that still had some patches of quite deep snow, but it's messy and disintegrating fast. Saw 1 guy on the summit. He took the trail down and we opted to go back down the Express and we got to the other side the same time he did. Not our finest moment. Took us forever, but I got the only peak I needed for May. I'm guessing it'll be way better in even a week. I tried it initially last Friday and gave up just after the Engine Hill Bushwhack and this week was a whole different ball game. |
