Date of Hike: Monday, May 13, 2024
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Parking on Hurricane Mtn Rd was adequate; our group took up five spaces by the time we all got there.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Up high, where the trail dips down to what might be a drainage stream at times, there was no flow.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail is in fairly good condition. The only real muddy place was in the first 100 feet of the trail. A number of tree branches, some limbed, some not, have been laid over the mud & water to enable passage with minimum stepping in mud.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw one happy puppy, leashed but very friendly.
Bugs
Bugs: No bugs on the way up; maybe the temp was still too cool. There were a few low down on our descent, but not really biting.

Comments
Comments: Nice outing with the OTHH. Great visibility, with minimum cloudiness. Up high, there were a few places where a patch of ice or snow remnant could be seen, but these are easily bypassed. No need for traction at all.
