Bugs: Black flies were incredible, but not really biting. Used a bug net and Ben’s 100% deet today. Found only one tick on my sleeve, but avoided setting my things down where I could pick them up.

Comments
Comments: Checked out the trails today for spring maintenance. The April storm did a number on the western part of the range, this area didn’t fair too badly. Turkey hunters were out today. New sign has been placed at the junction with the BRT, very attractive in person, thanks mystery hiker! Footbed on the Blue trail is now much more clear descending from the viewpoint (junipers and heartbreak juvenile pines). Old Stage Road has a lot of pine blowdowns between the red and blue trails, so until the cut up it’s recommended just for foot traffic.
