A sandal dropped just after a water crossing. I brought it to the trailhead. I believe it was a tiva. Seemed like it was pretty new. |

Another great spring hike! Snow starts pretty early on, maybe half a mile in. On and off, as expected, but the first few miles were easy going. I bare booted until about a mile before Hancock. The trail was dry for about half the ascent, mostly toward the top. The ridge to South Hancock was a toss up of mud, dry trail, solid monorail, sloppy monorail, and mashed potatoes. The trail going down from S Hancock was completely covered in snow and ice still. I’d recommend going up South Hancock first and descending Hancock. Wouldn’t normally suggest this, but the snow staircase seems like It would be easy to go up, and ascending Hancock today was rough with the mixed bag of conditions. |
