Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked by the start of the trail by the orange gate. Not a whole lot of room here. $4/person to enter the park at the toll both at the jct of Podunk Rd and Campground Rd (shown as Lower Rd on Gaia).
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: I don't recall the trail being blazed. The trail sign at the jct of Broken Boulder and Pitch Pine trails was on the ground and broken. The only blowdown I recall was on the herd path that can form a loop with the side path back to Broken Boulder Trail (shown on Gaia). A herd path has formed around it.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure but they must be leashed and are not allowed on the beaches according to the park's website.
Bugs
Bugs: They're out but they didn't seem to bother unless we stopped and we were moving at a very slow pace.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: None

Comments
Comments: Nice Mother's Day hike after our little redline of Bear Hill. The trail is pretty flat and short though you have to descend a very steep slope to get down to the pond and get a better view of it. The trail was dry but be aware that mountain bikers can use many of the trails in the park. Note that you can make a little loop by the pond behind the cabin that leads back to Broken Boulder Trail in a short distance. Doing this, Gaia had us at 1.3mi, 16ft of gain. This finished off the Merrimack Valley SNH redline tab for me :)
