Parking/Access Road Notes: Parked at Flat Mountain Pond trailhead on Whiteface Intervale Road. Space for maybe ten cars.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of Whiteface River on Flat Mountain Pond Trail gave me a bit of trouble. Hubby walked easily across a downed birch tree. I decided to just walk through as it was warm and at the end of the hike. Not hoppable currently.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several blowdowns on McCrillis Path. At least two are walk around. McCrillis Trail was in good shape from the hardwoods to the bottom (drainages cleared)…above the hardwoods there are a few smaller blowdowns that should get cleared even though it’s wilderness area. Also, the top of McCrillis Trail had a lot of erosion and looked like a lot of water had rushed down it carrying loose rocks, soil, and leaves. Slow going. Not sure how to fix this. Water bars?
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Not sure how most dogs would be on Blueberry Ledge.
Bugs
Bugs: Yup. Black flies and mosquitoes.

Comments
Comments: We carried rock spikes, but didn’t use them. No ice really until Rollins. Most of it is avoidable by rock hopping or is flat enough to carefully tread through. We probably would have thrown them on if we were going to head across Rollins to Passaconaway just for the speed. We ran into a lady who had come up Sabbaday Brook to the Tris and then across Kate Sleeper. She said Sabbaday was clear of snow, but Kate Sleeper was a mess FWIW. We were socked in on the views today, but enjoyed our day of checking out new-to-us trails.
