We made a loop from the Lonesome Lake Trail, up Kinsman Ring Tr and stayed straight down the KRT after Cannon (instead of out and back), and then walked the Pemi Trail and part of the bike path back to Lafayette Campground. Lonesome Lake trail was wet but clear. The KRT was clear until ascending just north of the LL/KRT junction. The monorail was very wet and icy and we were glad to have our microspikes with us since it was difficult to find a clear path up the sketchy, steep trail. Lots of scrambling in that section.
The KRT northeast down from Cannon was very wet with running water down the trail making the rock slabs slow going. Used microspikes for a just small section but, again, was glad to have them. Lots of loose, sandy scree in the highly eroded section.
The Pemi Trail had a few large blowdowns at the beginning requiring wide walk-arounds. |
