Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We parked on Welton Falls Road, shortly past the intersection with Cream Hill Road, in the flat area on the left just before the bridge (this used to be the parking area a decade ago before the bridge was repaired). Not knowing the condition of Welton Falls Road past this -- it's often in poor shape, sometimes heavily eroded, especially on the inclined/steep sections where there's no room to turn around -- we decided to walk the rest of the way. HOWEVER, the road is in better shape than it's been in several years, and a passenger car can, with some care, drive all of the way to the Back 80 Loop Trail parking area. We certainly will next time, barring any major storms -- so, have at it!

Comments
Comments: A trail work trip -- brushing and deadfall/blowdown removal on the Elwell Trail from Old Dicey Road to Mowglis Mountain. Trail is now in lovely shape; the four relos we did over the past few years are looking good. [We also moved the brushy softwood blowdown reported on the Elwell Trail just east of Old Dicey Road toward Oregon Mountain, reported a week or so ago.]

Sign post for Old Dicey Road sign is almost half gone in one spot -- something has been clawing or chewing it. It was not this bad in January, when we were last in this area.

Note: lightweight electric strimmer + polycarbonate blades = no more hobblebush and beech saplings!
