| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Sawyer River Road has a major washout one mile tffrom route 302. A section of the hill on the downhill side of the road collapsed affecting part of the road. It is likely that the road will be closed for some time. |

Relatively easy to bareboot. Used a log that was flat on top and a couple rocks. |

About a dozen step over blowdowns. Some severe erosion in some places.

Black flies are out but not terrible as long as you don’t stand in one spot too long.

This is now a 14+ mile hike due to the washout. What I didn’t plan on was upper 80 temperatures and little to no wind. I drank a liter of water before I started and used all of the water in my 3 L hydration bladder. I did stop at the stream crossing on the way back and filtered another liter just in case I ran out of what I was carrying.
There is some ice and remnants of monorail between the ridge and the summit, but it can be avoided. With these temperatures, it should be gone in a couple days. Carried traction, but didn’t use it. |
