Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: I had to wade through the two main water crossings, both directions. The river was moving, but not too deep. It didn't feel unsafe; I had checked the water levels that day and saw that they were below normal for this time of year (though, I'm sure spring is higher than other times). I'm glad we did the Black Pond bushwhack; the other crossing looked impassable/impossible.

Bugs
Bugs: Not super buggy, except I seem to have a number of bites today. Worse near Black Pond, and the swampy area near Lincoln Woods Trail. Summit didn't really have many bugs, and we could sit and have lunch.

Comments
Comments: Great hike! The snow/ice at the top was a surprise, actually, as it was so warm outside, even on the summit. There was one patch with slippery ice, but easy to avoid. The rest crunched or could be avoided altogether. There were a couple of wet places on the slide, and a place where we had to climb up the rocks in a stream (though could move to the side fairly quickly). Highly recommend taking Brutus down--the best kind of trail, steep with very few odd-sized rocks hampering progress.

We saw no summit marker but went as far as we can go (according to Google and All Trails, it was too far, even). The PeakFinder app confirmed we were definitely on the summit. I am 100% confident we were there, but it would be nice to reach a summit without a guessing game. Even so, I'd go back!
