Comments
Comments: Wind forecast was not looking good to visit the northern Presidentials today, so we opted for the carters at least giving us a view of the northerns. Definitely windy but it was great for keeping the bugs away. We were pleasantly surprised with the trail conditions. We expected postholing in rotting snow on north Carter trail, but only a couple very short patches of it and not enough to use spikes. All ice and snow on the ridge was avoidable, barely any! A lot has changed in the past week. The only spot we used spikes was coming back down from Carter dome summit for about 0.3 miles where it was easier to have them on in this one section of snow. All the trails were mostly dry with only a few spots of running water on the trail. Probably some of the best spring conditions we could’ve asked for. Ran into a few others today. One couple working on finishing up their 48 over 70, congrats to them! We hope to be still hiking when over 70! Other fellow aspiring gridiots , way to go Karen for gridding out Carter Dome and May today!
